A tree on the overhead line has caused all trams to stop between Bury and Whitefield on Friday morning (November 15) as Storm Claudia hits the UK.
The Met Office has issued multiple severe weather warnings affecting large parts of the UK on Friday, November 14, including a yellow wind warning in Greater Manchester.
Heavy rain is forecast for most of the day on Friday, with the Met Office and the Environment Agency warning of potential flooding.
Due to the conditions, train lines such as Northern Rail have advised people to "think again" about travelling and avoid it if possible, as the weather is causing delays on public transport.
