A schoolgirl was found dead in a pool of blood with her mum injured after a knifeman allegedly attacked them in their own home. ‌

Lainie Williams, 17, was discovered alongside her gravely injured mum Rhian Stephens, 38 at their home in South Wales on Thursday. ‌

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is in custody, the Mirror reports. ‌

Tributes have already been paid to the teenager who was described as the "loveliest person".

One local said: "Lainie was the loveliest, kindest person who had a lot of friends. The girls are in bits."

Police were called to the detached property near Blackwood, South Wales after receiving a 999 call of two attacks. ‌
