Veteran actor Kamini Kaushal passed away at 98 on Friday. The actor, who made her debut in the movies with Chetan Anand’s Neecha Nagar, was one of the most acclaimed actors of the time and during her initial years in the movies, she and Dilip Kumar made a fine pair on screen. They first worked together in the 1948 films Nadiya Ke Paar and Shaheed, and developed a fondness for each other that was very obvious to those around them. Dilip Kumar wrote about his on and off screen relationship with Kamini in his autobiography, Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow, and expressed his love for her. She shared that they were “shattered” when their association ended as she had gotten married to her brother-in-law.
