With the upcoming public meetings on the Interstate-71 Crossroads Regional Transportation Study , it’s understandable that many in Brunswick may feel uneasy. We’ve fought this battle before. But let me make one thing clear: Brunswick remains strongly opposed to any attempt to revive the proposed Boston Road interchange.
Like so many others, I was relieved when the state’s biennial budget repealed the interchange mandate inserted at the last minute by state Sen. Tom Patton, the Strongsville Republican. Though billed as a congestion fix, it would have destroyed dozens of occupied homes and uprooted an established neighborhood. It was a plan imposed on us, not created with us.
