In a jolt to the Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference, the party has lost both the seats it previously held in the Jammu and Kashmir bypoll, as the Election Commission announced the results on Friday.

The party lost Budgam, the seat National Conference leader and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah vacated in the 2024 elections after he also won the Ganderbal seat. The Budgam seat was won by Aga Syed Muntazi Mehdi, a candidate from former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's People's Democratic Party (PDP).

It also finished a distant third in Nagrota, with party candidate Shamim Begum ending up with 10,872 votes, which was 31,478 votes behind the winner, BJP's Devyani Rana.

This is a developing story. It will be updated. - Ends
