Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended a Morada Block staffer in Mayurbhanj district on Friday while he accepted a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a retired Panchayat official.

The arrest took place shortly after the complainant reported the matter to the vigilance authorities.

According to officials, Partha Sarathi Chel, Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) of Morada Block, demanded money to process arrear salary dues of the complainant, who retired in February 2023. Despite repeated requests, Chel allegedly delayed the file and insisted on payment. The complainant then approached Vigilance, leading to a trap operation.
