LAS VEGAS — The next time the baseball world convenes in one hotel, there should (hopefully) be more action than there was this week at the Cosmopolitan, where most of the activity was limited to the blackjack and craps tables.

Of course, the GM meetings always serve as the precursor to the winter meetings, the former laying the groundwork for signings and trades to come over the next few months.

And while Yankees GM Brian Cashman was not in attendance this week due to a personal matter that popped up late, most of his top lieutenants were and kept him in the loop as the offseason officially kicked into gear.
