It’s been thirty years since Mayor Coleman A. Young first articulated a vision of waterfront parks in Detroit stretching “bridge to bridge.”

That vision took a bold step forward this fall, with the opening of the 22-acre Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park on the west riverfront. It’s the latest link in Detroit’s RiverWalk, which now runs almost uninterruptedk as Young envisionedk from the MacArthur Bridge at Belle Isle to within a half mile or so of the Ambassador Bridge.
