A new study suggests that women who consume large amounts of ultra-processed food (UPFs) are at a higher risk of developing a potential precursor to bowel cancer . Experts have stated that this research provides insight into how diet can influence early changes in the bowel. ‌

The study, published in Jama Oncology, reveals that women who regularly consume more servings of UPFs – such as processed sauces, crisps, processed meats and many ready meals – are at a significantly higher risk of developing a growth in the bowel known as an adenoma. ‌
