Three people have died while others are nursing serious injuries after a Toyota Hiace minibus overturned at Mlambe, near Kasitu Trading Centre in Nkhotakota.
Nkhunga Police spokesperson Andrew Kamanga said the minibus, registration number KK 6361, was carrying eight passengers when the driver reportedly lost control due to speeding. The vehicle swerved off the road and overturned three times.
Kamanga confirmed that the driver, Cassim Bunaya (35), Endings Duwe (61), and Amina Kaonga (38) sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Nkhunga Health Centre.
Health officials reported that all three suffered grave head trauma and multiple fractures.
Three other passengers sustained serious injuries, while two others were treated for bruises and discharged.
