CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Community organizations are preparing for the arrival of Border Patrol agents that are expected to reach the greater Charlotte area by Saturday or early next week , according to the sheriff’s office.
Local nonprofits are organizing and teaming up ahead of the federal agents’ arrival, with advocates saying the Latin American community has been on high alert since the new administration took office at the beginning of the year.
“Much of the community is concerned right now, wondering what’s going to happen here in Charlotte,” said Hector Vaca, immigrant justice director at Action N.C.
