HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Gov. Ned Lamont officially launched his campaign for a third term on Friday.
Lamont, a Democrat, posted a video to social media on Friday morning.
“It’s official: I’m running for re-election,” Lamont wrote. “CT is moving forward, but too many families are impacted by rising costs. I’m running to keep fighting for a more affordable future. We’ve come a long way and there’s more work to do. Watch the video now and join the team.”
The 71-year-old planned a campaign launch event for 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
As of Friday, his only competition on the Democratic side was Rep. Josh Elliott, who filed paperwork over the summer.
On the Republican side, Sen. Ryan Fazio and Timothy Wilcox announced runs for governor. Former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart filed paperwork .
