AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We have a safety alert for CSRA residents: Cases of whooping cough are rising across the United States.

Right now, it’s a big problem in Texas.

The state is seeing 10 times as many cases as it did in 2023. Nationally, cases were up six times from the previous year.

South Carolina measles outbreak surges to 43 cases

The South Carolina Department of Public Health is reporting eight new cases of measles in the past week.

Symptoms of whooping cough include violent coughing that can cause vomiting and difficulty breathing. Doctors say there are several factors behind the rise in cases.
