Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee as the team’s bowling coach for the Tata Indian Premier League 2026 season. The franchise said his international experience, tactical depth and previous stint with KKR made him an important addition to the support staff.
Southee, regarded as one of the most complete fast bowlers of his era, has been a key figure in New Zealand cricket for more than 15 years. He has played more than 100 Test matches, over 150 ODIs and 120 T20 Internationals, collecting more than 700 international wickets. Known for his swing, control and leadership, he captained New Zealand in all formats and played major roles in their 2019 World Cup campaign and the 2021 World Test Championship win.
