RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - A Radford mother is expected to be sentenced following the death of her 2-year-old daughter.

Amanda Mitchell of Radford is expected to be sentenced on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Court documents say Mitchell pleaded guilty to:

Child abuse

Child Cruelty

Drug posession

The charges stem from the death of 2-year-old Harper Mitchell in 2020.

Mitchell was previously charged with murder, however the charge was dismissed in court.

Mitchell’s boyfriend, Andrew Byrd was found guilty of the murder in 2023, he’s currently serving two consecutive life sentences.
