Travel will be tricky through Saturday on the Kanawha Turnpike in South Charleston.
West Virginia Division of Highways engineers have closed the two eastbound lanes on a small bridge on W.Va. 601 (Kanawha Turnpike) just west of the new Kanawha Turnpike/Jefferson Road roundabout, near Country Club Village.
The lanes were closed on Thursday following a routine bridge inspection. Weather permitting, engineers expect the bridge to reopen by Saturday evening, according to a DOH news release.
Traffic heading west on Kanawha Turnpike toward St. Albans should use the westbound half of the bridge, as normal. Traffic heading east toward Charleston will detour at Chesapeake Street or Chestnut Street to MacCorkle Avenue (U.S. 60).
Eastbound traffic will be able to access Country Club Village.
