The state Cannabis Control Board green-lit new advertising, packaging and marketing rules Thursday allowing licensed pot merchants to sell discounted products.

The rules say cannabis sellers can offer “discounts, coupons, points-based reward systems, customer loyalty programs, bundled discounts.”

Regulators had first proposed lifting the ban on discounts last year and gave final approval at Thursday’s meeting.

The weed dealers have been asking for such authority since the industry launched three years ago.
