HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A juried art exhibition featuring works created by high school students opens Friday at Hastings College and runs through Dec. 13 at the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center.

The “Emerging Visions” exhibition displays 50 works of art from 34 students, which were selected from 150 submitted pieces from 60 contestants. High school juniors and seniors submitted artwork in September and October to display their talent and earn scholarships.

A closing ceremony will be held Dec.13, with scholarships up to $11,000 awarded after art professors judged the works in the galley. The awards include a full-ride Jackson Scholarship for seniors committed to attending the college.

The exhibit is open during the gallery’s hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and noon to 3 p.
