SACRAMENTO, California — A federal grand jury has indicted 53-year-old Curt Michael Taras, of Folsom, on charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a prohibited person and possessing a firearm within a school zone. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.
According to court documents, on September 24, 2025, Taras was found with a firearm within 1,000 feet of the Folsom High School campus. Further investigation revealed additional firearms and ammunition in his vehicle and residence. Taras is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a Sacramento County Superior Court order restraining him from harassing, stalking, and threatening an intimate partner, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
