One of Greater Manchester's main festive events has been cancelled on the opening night as Storm Claudia batters the UK .

Downpours and fierce winds are already causing problems with train and tram services cancelled and weather warnings in place.

The popular Christmas at Dunham Massey lights trail was due to officially open this evening following a preview event last night, but now ticket holders have been told it's called off.

A message from National Trust reads: "CANCELLED: We are sorry to report that Christmas at Dunham Massey, 14 Nov, has been cancelled. Please refer to your emails shortly for more information."
