A water main break discovered early Friday, Nov. 14 has forced the closure of both Firestone and Litchfield CLCs, the Akron Public School district announced. All classes, after-school activities and events scheduled for Nov. 14 at both schools have been cancelled.
The damaged water main has caused significant water pressure issues and has impacted essential services at both schools. APS maintenance teams and utility crews are currently on-site assessing the damage, the school district noted.
The school district will communicate directly with parents of both schools later Nov. 14 as whether the buildings will be reopened on Monday, Nov. 17.
