After the NDA secured a decisive win in the Bihar elections on Friday, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya celebrated the victory with a symbolic gesture of switching on his phone’s flashlight.
The moment wasn’t random. At an election rally in Bihar’s Samastipur last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), whose symbol is the lantern, declaring that the state no longer needs “lanterns and their allies” in an era defined by digital light and connectivity.
Addressing the crowd, Modi had also urged supporters to turn on their mobile flashlights. On Friday, Mandaviya brought that imagery to life.
