COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Mifflin Township man was sentenced Thursday to 22 years to life in prison for fatally shooting his friend over three years ago, the Franklin County Prosecutor's office said.
According to the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Shayla Favor's office, 45-year-old Robert Burnett was found guilty on Nov. 7 on two counts of murder and two counts of tampering with evidence, each with firearm specifications.
The jury rejected his claim of self-defense in the shooting of 49-year-old Earl Beck, Favor's office said.
The shooting happened in the early hours of July 3, 2022, in Burnett's home in the 2900 block of Woodland Avenue.
