ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A parent and child have been displaced after their home was damaged by fire, according to the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department.
At 2:54 p.m. Thursday, November 13, crews responded to a report of a structure fire in the 5200 block of Airport Rd. NW.
Crews arrived to a home with heavy smoke; they extinguished the fire and looked inside to ensure safety of the residents, according to first responders.
The fire was extinguished by 3:01 p.m.; no injuries were reported. Both are receiving assistance from the Red Cross, said the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department.
The origin of the fire is under investigation.
