Chandigarh, Nov 14: In a major crackdown on counterfeit currency operations, Punjab Police arrested two individuals from Dera Bassi and seized a total of Rs 9.99 crore in fake and demonetised currency, police officials said on Friday.
The arrested men, identified as Sachin and Gurdeep, both residents of Kurukshetra in Haryana, were intercepted while travelling in a white Scorpio-N. Authorities recovered Rs 9.88 crore in counterfeit currency along with Rs 11.05 lakh in original old notes.
