A driver was arrested early Nov. 1 after a state trooper clocked a vehicle traveling more than 100 mph on State Route 347 near Casa Blanca Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
DPS said the trooper was working on the Gila River Indian Community around 3:30 a.m. when LiDAR showed a southbound car moving 104 mph as it weaved around slower drivers. The vehicle continued speeding into the city of Maricopa, still traveling roughly twice the posted limit before the trooper conducted a traffic stop on the city’s main strip.
The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, criminal speed and reckless driving , DPS said. The person was booked into the Pinal County jail.
