A 47-year-old man from New Jersey has died from alpha-gal syndrome, the red meat allergy triggered by a tick bite. Researchers at the University of Virginia publicly reported this to be the cause of death after months of investigation. Officials believe there are 450,0000 Americans living with this tick-induced allergy, but this man is the first person known to have died from it.
