Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the state government is set to bring the Vrindavani Vastra, a 16th-century silk tapestry commissioned by King Nara Narayan and created under the guidance of Saint Srimanta Sankardeva, back to Assam for a special exhibition.

“Ever since I entered politics, I have dreamt of bringing the Vrindavani Vastra to Assam. I tried several times before but could not succeed. This time, we are hopeful that on 16 November, the Assam government will sign an MOU with the British Museum in London to bring it here for a special exhibition,” CM Sarma said.
