KEOKUK (WGEM) - Sports for athletes with disabilities or handicaps is something that continues to grow in popularity. Such sports have been established at the Olympic level for decades, but within the last five years, the Hawkeye State has added state meets for para-athletes.
Southeast Iowa will be well represented on Friday, Nov. 14 at the state para-swimming meet as Keokuk High School senior Addalyn Worster has qualified for a fourth consecutive year.
“I mean, it’s really exciting,” Addalyn Worster said. “My brother also qualified for state all four years as well, so just being able to also do something that he did, represent my school, and I’m just really excited.”
At just 6-months-old, Addalyn Worster was diagnosed with NF1, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on the body.
