Singer Chappell Roan is at the center of intense online discussion following a series of confrontational red carpet incidents.
Newsweek reached out to Roan's representative via email for comment on Friday.
Why It Matters
Roan—whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz —didn't become famous overnight. In 2015, at the age of 17, she signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, CNN reported. It was then that she changed her first name to Chappell, her late grandfather's moniker, while Roan came from his favorite song, "The Strawberry Roan."
After being dropped by the record company in 2020, she moved back in with her parents in Missouri. It wasn't until 2024 that the musician exploded in popularity while supporting Olivia Rodrigo on her Guts World Tour .
