A man who transformed a decommissioned lifeboat into a fully functional home told Newsweek he now spends just a fraction of what he used to on living expenses—an unconventional setup that has gone viral on social media and inspired widespread admiration for its ingenuity.
"I brought the lifeboat five months ago, and I’ve lived on it since, converting it while living on it at the same time," said the homeowner, who would prefer to keep his full identity private. "The boat cost £8,000 ($10,530) and I’ve spent just over £8,500 ($11,190) on renovating it, doing all the work myself."
On November 8, the man—who goes by u/rectoryofwolves on Reddit —posted a photo of the converted vessel to the subreddit r/malelivingspace, where it quickly gained traction. The post has been upvoted mor
