Drake Maye continued to add to his MVP case with Thursday night’s 27-14 rout of the New York Jets, extending the New England Patriots’ winning streak to eight games.
Maye was excellent in his second primetime win of the season, completing his first 11 pass attempts and finishing 25-for-34 with 281 passing yards and a touchdown. Not surprisingly, he heard plenty of “MVP” chants from the crowd at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots have the best record in the NFL at 9-2, and Maye is a big reason why. The 23-year-old quarterback leads the league in passing yards (2,836) while ranking second in completion rate (71.9 percent), fourth in QBR (74.1) and fifth in passer rating (113.2). He also has 20 touchdown passes, five interceptions, 285 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
