Two men have been charged with an alleged fraud concerning a woman in the Solihull area who is alleged to have been ‘kidnapped’.

David Meredith, 59 of Port Street in Evesham and Shane Perry, 54, of Birmingham Road in Stratford face kidnap and fraud charges after an alleged incident said to involve a woman in her 80s.

West Midlands Police said officers received reports of two men ‘posing as workmen taking advantage of an elderly woman’.

The men are alleged to have ‘coerced’ the woman into going to her bank and to withdraw thousands of pounds of cash, claiming the money was owed for work carried out.
