BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Road construction season is winding down with winter's approach, but crews will be working on major projects until the very end.
This weekend, motorists will be challenged by shutdowns on both directions of I-494 in the south metro. On Friday night, crews will shut down the westbound lanes of the heavily used interstate between Highway 77 and Highway 100 at 10 p.m. All westbound ramps to I-494 will be closed starting at 8 p.m.
Workers will be getting the interstate into its "winter configuration."
Those lanes are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday in time for morning rush. Motorists are advised to detour by using Highway 77 north to Highway 62/Crosstown west, and then south on Highway 100.
On Saturday night, construction crews will close down the eastbound lanes
