One of Fox News' most popular on-air personalities is taking a break.
Janice Dean, a Fox News meteorologist and co-host of "Fox & Friends," has announced she is stepping away from her role temporarily to focus on her health.
In a heartfelt post shared on social media, Dean explained her decision to take a break from both work and online platforms.
"I wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a break from work (and social media) for a bit. I’m ok, but I’ve had some health issues that require rest and time to heal," Dean said. "My bosses at Fox have been kind and understanding, and I feel blessed to be able to take a break to be with my family."
Dean, who has been living with multiple sclerosis since 2005, has often been candid about her health journey and personal challenges.
She reassured fans in her message, saying, "I’ve always been up front and honest about my life, and I felt I owed you an explanation of my absence. But, I will be back. Grateful to you all for the kind words."
Dean, who resides on Long Island with her husband Sean Newman and their two children, has been a fixture at Fox News since joining the network in 2004. She revealed her family just returned from a trip to Rome that she described as "a good place to start healing spiritually."
As senior meteorologist, she has covered countless major weather events across the United States, including hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024. She is also a contributor to Fox Weather.
Beyond her on-air work, Dean is a bestselling author. Her "Freddy the Frogcaster" children’s series teaches kids about weather, with proceeds from her most recent book donated to Team Rubicon, a disaster relief organization.
She’s also written two inspiring books for adults: her 2019 memoir, "Mostly Sunny: How I Learned to Keep Smiling Through the Rainiest Days," and her 2021 book, "Make Your Own Sunshine: Inspiring Stories of People Who Find Light in Dark Times."
Before her time at Fox, Dean worked in radio and television in Canada and the US, including stints as a morning show co-host, traffic reporter, and weather host.
