A head-on crash Tuesday night southeast of Farwell has left one person dead and one critically injured, authorities said Friday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2025 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling west on US 70 at about 8:55 p.m. Nov. 11, while a 2010 Ford F-150 was heading east in the westbound lanes of US 70 in Parmer County. DPS said the driver of the Dodge steered right to try to avoid the crash but was unable to do so, and the vehicles crashed head-on.

The Dodge's driver, Jacob Askew, 22, of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center (UMC) in Lubbock with serious injuries, where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. He was pronounced dead on Thursday, Nov. 13.
