Over the last few offseasons, the Toronto Blue Jays became far too acquainted with finishing in second place.
From Shohei Ohtani, to Juan Soto, to Corbin Burnes, the Blue Jays have made aggressive pursuits of a long list of star free agents, and they all chose other teams. Those decisions seemingly weren't based on the Blue Jays' willingness to spend the big money, but something playing for Toronto hasn't clicked for the game's biggest superstars.
Maybe that will change, though, considering the fact that the Blue Jays just made it to the World Series. And in some respects, this offseason represents a critical turning point for Toronto as a franchise.
