Cindy Barker is ready for her husband, David Coverdale, to take it slow an’ easy.

After the legendary musician, 74, announced his retirement on Thursday, his wife of 28 years revealed that this day was supposed to actually happen decades ago.

“Happy ‘Official’ Retirement, Baby!! I love you with all my heart,” Barker gushed via Instagram . “What an incredible journey I’ve been so lucky to go on with you! Now we just get to play!! I can’t wait to see what you do next…”

“Side Note: when I met David 35 years ago he told me he was retiring… 🎶,” she added. “This was taken flying to the last show I went to, not knowing at the time it was my last Whitesnake show… bittersweet!”
