ANN ARBOR, MI - The Pavilion Hospital has been in the works ever since I arrived at MLive.

After it was announced in 2018, the University of Michigan in September 2019 committed $920 million for the adult inpatient facility focused on intensive, specialty care. That was the same month I became an intern for the Jackson Citizen Patriot. I covered multiple Pavilion updates as the UM reporter for four years.

In the last six years, what was once a small green space on the medical campus has been transformed into 690,000-square-foot, 12-story building housing 264 in-patient beds and 2,000 employees.

As our UM reporter William Diep detailed, the long-awaited facility will accept patients by the end of the year .
