LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Police Department has released the names of two officers who were involved in the fatal shooting of a 56-year-old man after he allegedly swung a metal chain at passing vehicles and passersby.
The officers involved were identified as Agustin Hernandez and Jay Weber, according to the LAPD.
Hernandez is an Officer II and Weber an Officer III, which carries a higher degree of responsibility, according to the department’s classifications
At around noon Tuesday, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon suspect in the area of Kalmia and 103rd streets.
When they encountered the suspect, he ignored officer commands to surrender, police said.
