KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Before the football Vols take on New Mexico State Saturday, two F-35 fighters will do a flyover of Neyland Stadium.
The stealthy F-35 Lighting fighter jets are flown by the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marines, with each plane costing about $100 million.
With Veterans Day earlier in the week, this year’s homecoming game is also designated as the annual “Salute to Service.” Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Don’t forget to watch Volunteer Game Day starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, on WVLT and in the WVLT News App.
UT announced that the two fighter aircraft will also make two practice passes over campus and downtown on Friday, as preparation for Saturday’s flyover. The flyover practice is expected between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
