A man was fatally struck by a car in a Georgetown neighborhood on Thursday night.

The incident happened at about 5:41 p.m. near 50 West Main St. in Georgetown, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. The location is listed as a residential street on Google Maps.

A man had been a pedestrian on the road when he was hit by a 2018 BMW 430xi Coupe, the office said. He was brought to Merrimack Health Haverhill Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The man’s identity will be released after his family is notified, the office said.

The driver of the BMW remained at the scene after the crash, which is under investigation by state troopers and the Georgetown Police Department.
