Inspections of eight commerical vehicles by members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP earlier this week resulted in two vehicles being pulled off the road and several charges being laid.

On Nov. 13, 2025, OPP officers conducted a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) safety initiative with check points in the City of Pembroke and the Township of Laurentian Valley including Highway 17. The initiative focussed on the mechanical safety of the vehicles. In Ontario CMVs are defined by the Ministry of Transportation as either a truck or highway tractor with a gross weight of more than 4,500 kilograms; a bus with a seating capacity for ten or more passengers; tow trucks; and concrete pump trucks and mobile cranes.
