Former Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Ben Sauls has signed with the New York Giants. That comes after starting kicker Graham Gano suffered a neck injury. Sauls tried out with the Giants a week ago before inking the deal.
Sauls later inked a deal with the Atlanta Falcons and joined their practice squad but never ended up playing a game before being released.
Sauls had an impressive preseason with the team. He went 4 of 4, including two kicks from 49 and 50 yards, respectively, against the Panthers in the team’s final preseason game. His efforts were so impressive that head coach Mike Tomlin gave him a shoutout in his postgame press conference, understanding that Sauls might have just earned himself a job elsewhere.
