A man is facing an arson charge after a late-night blaze forced two neighbors to run from their home.
The fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Coram, at a house on Glenmere Lane, according to Suffolk County Police.
A man and woman inside escaped without injury as flames spread through the residence, police said.
Crews from Coram Fire Department and several surrounding departments arrived within minutes and brought the fire under control.
Arson Section detectives identified the suspect as 43-year-old Altariq Nixon, who lives nearby. Investigators determined he intentionally started the fire, police said, though a possible motive was not given.
Nixon was arrested and charged with second-degree arson. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
