Multiple Westshore RCMP officers and school liaison officers swarmed the grounds of Spencer Middle School in Langford on Thursday following reports of a schoolyard beating.

West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar said police were called to the school on the 1000-block of Goldstream Ave. at 9 a.m. and arrived within minutes.

“Police determined a male adult had entered onto school property and assaulted a male student,” Saggar said.

“The suspect then fled from the property before police arrived. The student suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries for which they received medical care.”

She said a 35-year-old male suspect was arrested shortly after the attack and was remanded in custody until a court appearance set for Nov. 14.
