(CNN)– Spirit Airlines is slashing flights in a desperate effort to stem losses, and it could affect how much you pay for your holiday travel.

According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, there will be nearly 11,000 fewer Spirit flights this holiday travel season compared to last year.

The drop represents a one-third reduction in the budget airline’s schedule.

It’s expected to impact overall fares this holiday season.

With Spirit flying fewer routes, the carrier won’t put nearly as much downward pressure on larger airlines’ fares.
