GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- An 18-year-old accused of exchanging gunfire with Grand Rapids police also fled police with a gun earlier this year.
Yasir Elijah Lagrone was arraigned Friday, Nov. 14 on multiple felonies, including two charges of attempted murder for firing upon two officers.
Police said the two officers were fired upon Tuesday, Nov. 11 as they tried to speak to Lagrone in a Southeast Grand Rapids neighborhood. Lagrone was a suspect in a stolen firearm complaint and the officers came upon him in the area of Blaine Avenue SE at Adams Street.
Bodycam video released by police earlier this week shows a person start to run from the officers, with gunfire heard. The officers then fired back.
No one was injured, but the officers’ patrol vehicle was struck.
Police soon after recovered
