A doctor at Bridgewater State Hospital determined Brian Walshe was competent to stand trial after a 40-day evaluation.
Walshe’s lawyers did not contest the finding at a hearing before Judge Diane Freniere on Friday morning. The finding means that Walshe’s trial will begin as scheduled, with jury selection starting Tuesday morning in Norfolk Superior Court.
Court officers brought the 50-year-old into the Dedham courthouse in handcuffs just after 11 a.m. He wore a suit and tie as he had to many pre-trial hearings in the case. Walshe spoke to one of his lawyers at the defense table and appeared to nod along as she spoke.
