PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Authorities have identified the construction worker who was struck by a vehicle on a northwest Phoenix freeway access ramp early Thursday morning.
Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to the crash on the 35th Avenue on-ramp to westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria freeway around 5:15 a.m.
Authorities say 64-year-old Vicente Castellanos Rodriguez, of Tolleson, was struck while crossing the on-ramp, attempting to reach the construction work area on the shoulder of the freeway. He was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, where he later died.
Investigators said Rodriguez was an employee with a construction company assigned to work on the Loop 101.
Troopers said the driver remained at the scene and is not facing charges for the collision.
